Dave Elman Induction (Revised)

Ask the client the following:
DO I HAVE PERMISSION TO HYPNOTIZE YOU?

Begin by telling them to keep their eyes open until you ask them to close them.

Take in a deep breath …hold it…now exhale.
Again, take in a deep breath ….hold it ….now exhale
Now, take a deep breath – Let it out, close your eyes down and relax.
Now, relax your eyes and the muscles around your eyes, fully and completely.
Relax them so completely, that as long as you maintain that relaxation, as long as you hold on to that relaxation, your eyes will just remain closed. You have to do this for your self, I can’t do it for you so, when you know you’ve got them relaxed to that point …give them a good try and satisfy yourself that they remain closed.
Good. Now stop trying.

Now, take that same quality of relaxation and allow it to spread from the top of your head to the tips of your toes in a warm wave of relaxation. …Good.
Now, In A moment – I’m going to count to three and when I do, and not before, I want you to open your eyes and then close them again. When you close them, I want you to allow yourself to go 10 times deeper into relaxation than you are right now.
Okay, here we go (place your hand in front of their eyes) …1 – 2 – 3 Opening your eyes and close them down and allow yourself to go 10 times deeper relax. Good.

We’re going to do that again. In A moment – I’m going to count to three and when I do, and not before, I want you to open your eyes and then close them again. When you close them, I want you to allow yourself to double that relaxation that you are allowing for yourself right now.

Okay, here we go (place your hand in front of their eyes) …1 – 2 – 3 Opening your eyes and close them down and allow yourself to go and double that relaxation. Go deeper relax. Good. Wonderful.

We’re going to do that one more time. In A moment – I’m going to count to three and when I do, and not before, I want you to open your eyes and then close them again. When you close them, I want you to allow yourself to double that relaxation that you are allowing for yourself right now.
Here we go (place your hand in front of their eyes) …1 – 2 – 3 Opening your eyes and close them down and allow yourself to go and double that relaxation. Go deeper relax. Good. You’re doing great. Go much deeper, go all the way down. Good.

In a moment, I’m going to pick up your right arm by the wrist. If you have followed my instructions so far, and I think you’ve done very well, your arm will be loose and limp like a wet dish rag, like a rag doll. I don’t want you to help me, let me do all the work. I’m going to lift your arm up just a few inches and then drop it. When I do, just allow it to make a satisfying plop down and then go much deeper. In fact, each time I pick up your arm and allow it to plop down, allow yourself to go much deeper into relaxation. (Repeat arm drop a few times)

Good, now, we have a good workable level of physical relaxation, let’s add mental relaxation to it. In a moment, I’m going to ask you to begin counting out loud backwards from 100. Allow each number you say to help your mind to grow more relaxed, calm and serene. You’ll find that within just a few numbers, your mind can grow so relaxed, that the rest of them just fade away, grow dim and distant, become quiet and disappear altogether. When that happens, notice how good it feels. You’ll say the numbers out loud like this, 100-deeper relaxed …99 deeper relaxed ..and so on. You just say them slowly, allowing each one to relax your mind so that it grows relaxed and serene like the surface of a still lake, Within just a few of them, the rest will just disappear.

Okay, begin counting backwards out loud and slowly….
(Counting)
(If the client continues to count…stop them and tell them they’re doing great. And then say that when you lift up their arm this time and plop it down, the numbers just fall off the edge and are gone…then lift and drop and ask…are they all gone?)
Now, your mind and body are relaxed and open to beneficial suggestions.
any beneficial suggestions you hear or imagine can go deep inside, way down deep, deeper even still, and through the power of your own mind, become powerful and true. Not because I say so, but because that’s the way the mind works.
(Deeper further and begin session….)
