This induction is the gentle slope induction. In this induction, the client is at his or her favorite natural environment. When they imagine this environment, they imagine a gentle slope. The further down the slope that they move, the more beautiful it gets and the more deeply they relax. The subconscious mind is naturally drawn to the beauty as it increases and the slope down into relaxation is gentle.

The reason for using many natural environments is that some clients vacation better in the woods while others prefer the beach. If a client has phobias of one environment, you can use another. For example, I had a client who was in a group session in which they were using ocean sounds to relax. During the session, the client became anxious. She reported that her brother had died in front of her. The beach sounds sounded angry to her and she had memories of a long ago time when she was ten and her brother was killed during a storm at sea. She felt much better being able to talk about this.

Another client was afraid of the woods. She felt that bugs would be after her at every turn. She could not even imagine herself willingly going into the woods. She did well in hypnosis with a beach scene.

The gentle slope is useful, because most people are not afraid of a gentle slope. They enjoy the beauty increasing and seem to relax easily.

Clients report that a gentle slope is pleasant. It carries a natural suggestion to go down into relaxation. This suggestion promotes increased ability of the person’s subconscious mind to determine how far down the slope they need to go to reach the proper hypnosis state to achieve their goal. The subconscious mind seems to have its own intuitive power and knows how far down it needs to go. Some people need a deeper session than others. This deepening method seems to appeal to a wide variety of people and is easy for people to imagine. I use this for stop smoking, weight loss, and adhd hypnosis.
